Fire Station Mural:

From the Mandogalup Volunteer Bushfire Brigade,........ "We have all been more than overwhelmed by the artwork which you created. You may think of it as all in a day's work but we have all been moved and impressed by it."

From Alcoa (Major Mural Sponsor), ........ " Irene has exceeded everyone's expectations with her design and presentation. From the moment she started, we knew we were going to get something unique that would become very special to the area."

Email from Aileen of Bridgetown, ........ "Saw first hand the Mural at Anketell Road and have to say it was AWE-INSPIRING, FANTASTIC AND WONDERFULLY GREAT! Couldn't help myself, I had to take a few snaps - probably a dozen or so. Will send you copies later, I had Vene (a sister in our congregation - I think you've met her) with me - she was GOBSMACKED!"

2002 Shark Bay Artist in Residence:

From Skywest Airlines - Destinations magazine,
Article - "Artist for the People", by Peter Laud . . . . . . . . Says Sue Edwards: (Secretary of the Shark Bay Arts Council) "Irene made us aware of the possibilities. The arts workshops she held, have increased community spirit and given us all a new sense of collective pride and achievement".

From Irene's sister . . . Sorry you can't come with me!

Although it wasn't possible, Irene still asked in fun, if she could join her sister Aileen, on a holiday to Europe, . . .." just carry her bags etc" This was Aileen's response:

. . . ... Would love you to come and do sketches of where I go, but I wouldn't get to so much done. I know you'd convince the pilot to stop in mid air somewhere so you could get a great photo of the cloud formation, or sunrise/set etc.
There'd be traffic jams all over Switzerland/Austria/Italy/France etc while this coloured flash with camera/sketch book in hand was leaping over buildings, peeping over fences, dodging cars and gathering details for the next masterpiece!
I plan to visit Van Gough's abode and will probably see lots of M. Angelo things etc. I think you're a wonderful super-fun person to be around - I just wish you could come with me to Europe.

Must go, see you soon.
Love Aileen X X

1993 Inaugural Heritage Council
Annual Acquisitive Art Awards:

Overall Winner - "Forgotten Heritage - Cooya Pooya Homestead" by Irene Osborne.
Judges Comments: "Irene's painting evoked a strong sense of place through its representation of the homestead. There is a duality of experience in the attention to both the house and the fragmentation on the ground. The Artist has captured both the detail and atmosphere. . . . ."

Comments on Paintings Commissioned or Purchased:

Commission from Lynas Corporation Ltd - " Ngaljardy Pool" painting
From owner . . . . . " I was completely "BLOWN AWAY" with the presentation of your work depicting Ngaljardy Pool near Paraburdoo. As a frequent Visitor to this magnificent part of the Pilbara, I never cease to marvel at the colour and majesty of the various formations, both of which you managed to capture."

Gouache Painting Workshop:

From John L. of Claremont:
I was much impressed by the excellent standard of teaching and most inspiring demonstrations of Gouache Techniques.

From Ellie S. of Subiaco:
I was very wary about Gouache but found it a very forgiving medium and the method shown was free and easy to follow. I enjoyed the demo's and the painting to show different approaches. Many Thanks.

From Anne W. of Woodvale:
It's been great to discover a new (water) medium - I'm inspired to carry on and do more Gouache. This is in no small part to do with your skill as an Artist and as a genuinely nice human being.

From Myra F. of Churchlands:
I found the demonstrations of great help and interest, they helped to fix technique for me.

Banners Endorsements:

From Year 10's Art Teacher of Maranatha Christian College,
Banner Painting Workshops for FRISK 03 Youth Festival . . . .
. . . . . . .Both the students and I appreciated Irene's relaxed and encouraging manner throughout the 5 sessions that we had, Irene stimulated the group to design scenes for the banners and was quick to praise them for their efforts. She was then able to help them to choose the appropriate drawings for the banners and organize them into groups to carry out the various tasks of copying, outlining and painting. . . . .Irene was punctual, organized and gave over and above her allotted time. We were all pleased with the final outcome and very thankful for her guidance and expertise.

Email from Graeme, of Wangara, . . . .
Wow! You don't mess around, hey! The banners look terrific.
You're a very versatile lady.

Hi Irene, We have decided on the 'Mesa Hillside' painting but I have to say the decision was very difficult. Even seeing the pictures on the email gave us an insight into your beautiful work. We'll be really proud to present the director with a piece of your artwork, I'm sure will be most appreciative. . . . .
Followed by the email below on receiving the painting :
Well the painting arrived safe and in one piece. It is absolutely beautiful. The colours are superb. It's the Pilbara down to a tee. Therese will just love it I know. She actually lived in the Pilbara for a while so we wanted something that would really capture the essence of the countryside. You certainly did that!
Thank you so much.
Then the last email: Therese took her painting back to Perth and showed it off all week. She thought it was perfect. People in the Perth office are still talking about the painting! Thank you.
Kind regards
Sheena B

Heritage Icons of Western Australia

Commission from "r’tisan" Collections of Fine Art Limited Editions:
The project required a Western Australian artist whose skill and experience could execute this important commission with intelligence and sensitivity, and whose style would capture the selected buildings in an interesting, attractive and cohesive way. In Irene Osborne not only have these requirements been met and exceeded, but her enthusiasm and flexibility (even during a bout of ‘flu) made the exacting task an enjoyable event. I am delighted with the outcome.”
